Gerod Holliman
Free safety | LouisvillePlenty of defensive backs are labeled ball hawks, but in the past half-century, none have lived up to that billing quite like Holliman. The Louisville safety matched the NCAA record for interceptions in a season with 14, picking off true freshmen (one against Miami's Brad Kaaya in the opener) and Heisman winners (two against Jameis Winston in late October). Holliman's exploits helped Louisville finish as the No. 6 overall defense in the nation, and only 22 other teams in the country had more interceptions this season than Holliman had by himself. -- David M.
