ESPN.com Preseason Power Rankings 2013
23. Oregon State
After surging to a 6-0 start last season -- the Beavers' best in 105 years -- Oregon State went 3-4 down the stretch, including a 31-27 loss to Texas in the Valero Alamo Bowl. That left it with a quarterback controversy heading into the offseason, and Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz will continue to battle into Week 1 -- perhaps beyond. Whoever wins the job has an explosive playmaker in receiver Brandin Cooks and a budding star in running back Storm Woods. There are holes to fill up the middle on defense, but Scott Crichton is one of the best defensive ends in the country, and the defensive secondary should be among the best in the conference. -- Kevin Gemmell
