LB Smith, OL Snyder out for 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Linebacker Derek Smith and offensive
lineman Adam Snyder will miss the San Francisco 49ers' game against
Green Bay on Sunday with potentially season-ending injuries.

Smith, the 49ers' leading tackler in each of his first five
seasons with the club, strained his hamstring in the third quarter
of San Francisco's 34-10 loss at New Orleans.

"It could potentially be longer, but we will wait and see,"
Niners coach Mike Nolan said of Smith, a 10th-year pro who has
missed just four games in his tenure with San Francisco (5-7). "I
don't have that information to really say that."

Snyder, the 49ers' top backup at both offensive tackle
positions, sprained his knee and ankle in the first quarter against
the Saints. He was removed from the Superdome field on a cart.

Tight end Eric Johnson will also miss another week with a
sprained knee ligament, and cornerback Shawntae Spencer might need
another week to recover from his sprained ankle.
