Ranking conferences by NBA talent

So far we've ranked NBA draft prospects by position, discussed the nation's best returning prospects and identified which team has the most next-level talent. But which conference has the most pro prospects?

There are two ways to look at this. The first is to go by sheer number of prospects. If that's the case, the SEC (thanks in large part to Kentucky's whopping 10 prospects) wins in a landslide. But another way is to look at which conference has the most lottery picks and potential first-rounders.

I tried to split the difference here, taking into account both depth and quality. I gave half the weight to the sheer number of prospects a conference was producing and half the weight to the number of elite (lottery prospects) and high-quality (first-round) players it possesses. I mined my Top 100 (which is more like a Top 200) for the top-ranked college basketball players, based on my interviews with numerous NBA scouts and general managers.

Here's how the conference rankings shake out.

Note: Bolded players are potential lottery picks, while italicized players are potential first-rounders.
