ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers right-hander Alexi Ogando had an injection on Saturday morning and will not make his scheduled start on Monday against Houston.
Matt Garza's start has been moved up and he will pitch on Monday. The Rangers are undecided on their Tuesday starter. It could come from a group of long reliever Ross Wolf and Triple-A starters Josh Lindblom and Travis Blackley.
Ogando could only miss one start. The Rangers are in wait-and-see mode and haven't decided yet if he'll return to the rotation or the bullpen.
"It's premature," Rangers manager Ron Washington said when asked if Ogando will return as a starter.
Ogando has been on the disabled list twice this season after moving back into the rotation from the bullpen.
He was on the 15-day DL from June 6 to July 23. He's 1-2 with a 4.68 ERA in five starts since coming back.
Ogando has inflammation in a nerve near his right shoulder. His CT scan was sent to Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion Friday.
Right-hander Nick Tepesch, who opened the season in the Rangers' rotation, isn't a candidate to help the Rangers immediately. He threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session and will throw another on Monday.
Tepesch isn't expected back until September. He is 4-6 with a 4.85 ERA for 16 starts. He was put on the DL on July 7 with right elbow inflammation.
