ATLANTA -- The New York Mets have reversed course and moved Lucas Duda to first base while Ike Davis tries to work out his problems in Triple-A.
Only last week, manager Terry Collins ruled out moving Duda from the outfield to his natural position after Davis was demoted. But Collins changed his mind Monday before the start of a series against the first-place Atlanta Braves. He feels it's best to have Duda at first, Daniel Murphy at second base, and an outfield of Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Juan Lagares and Marlon Byrd.
As a team, the Mets are hitting just .224 -- worst in the NL.
Meanwhile, infielder Justin Turner stayed back in New York to undergo an MRI on Monday. He may have to go on the disabled list because of ribcage soreness.
