Ichiro passes Frank Robinson for 33rd all time with 2,944th hit

MILWAUKEE -- Ichiro Suzuki recorded a milestone hit and stolen base during the Miami Marlins' 6-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

Suzuki, the Marlins' leadoff hitter, hit a 1-0 fastball from Zach Davies into right field for a single in the first inning, his 2,944th major league hit, which moved him into 33rd place all time and ahead of Frank Robinson.

He then stole second base, his 500th in the majors. He ranks 38th all time in steals.

Suzuki added a single in the ninth inning and finished the game 2-for-4.

He recorded 1,278 hits and 199 stolen bases while playing in the Japanese Baseball League from 1992 to 2000.
