Jacob Turner may start year on DL

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner has a mild right flexor strain and a bone bruise on his pitching elbow, an MRI revealed this week. The expectation is he'll start the season on the disabled list, according to the team.

Turner pitched two innings last Thursday against the San Francisco Giants and experienced some soreness leading to an MRI. He was acquired last August from the Miami Marlins and was vying for a roster spot after a rough 2014 season. He was 6-11 with a 6.13 ERA in 18 starts with the Marlins and Cubs.

Turner will seek a second opinion before making any decisions.
