DETROIT -- Andrew Susac hit a two-run double in San Francisco's four-run first against David Price, and the Giants beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 on Saturday.

Buster Posey had a solo homer among his three hits as San Francisco won for the eighth time in nine games against Detroit, including a sweep of the 2012 World Series. Madison Bumgarner pitched six innings for his fourth consecutive win, giving him a career-high 17 on the year.

Miguel Cabrera homered twice for Detroit, which has dropped three of four. Victor Martinez hit a solo drive in the third for his career-best 30th homer.

Price (13-11) settled down after the rough start, striking out 11 in 8 2-3 innings. But the left-hander, who was acquired from Tampa Bay in a July 31 trade, dropped to 1-3 with a 4.91 ERA in his last four starts.

Bumgarner (17-9), who won Game 2 two years ago, allowed three runs and 10 hits. Santiago Casilla pitched the ninth for his 15th save.

YANKEES 6, ROYALS 2

NEW YORK -- Brandon McCarthy won for the second time in six starts, and the Yankees feasted on Kansas City's bullpen after Royals starter Danny Duffy left because of an injury following his first pitch.

A night after a 1-0 loss in the series opener dropped them 4½ games back for the AL's second wild card, the weak-hitting Yankees scored as many as six runs for the first time since Aug. 29.

McCarthy (6-4) allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2-3 innings.

Kansas City, which had won four in a row, remained two games ahead of Detroit in the AL Central.

Duffy threw a ball to Jacoby Ellsbury and walked around the mound in discomfort, causing catcher Salvador Perez to motion toward Kansas City's dugout. He was relieved by Liam Hendriks (1-1), who pitched four innings.

ANGELS 8, TWINS 5

MINNEAPOLIS -- Albert Pujols hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the ninth inning for his 2,500th hit, leading Angels to their third straight win over the Twins.

Pujols also had a solo homer in the third against Phil Hughes for a 3-2 lead, scoring his 1,500th run on his 25th home run this season.

With the score 5-all in the ninth and two on, Pujols doubled to deep left off Jared Burton (2-5) and scored on Howie Kendrick's single against Anthony Swarzak.

Reddick hit a two-run double off Chad Qualls (1-5) before Lowrie drove him in with a single to left. Oakland is hitting .571 (16 for 28) against Qualls this year.

Friday's series opener was suspended by rain with one out in the top of the seventh inning.

RED SOX 4, BLUE JAYS 3

BOSTON -- Clay Buchholz pitched into the seventh inning, and the Red Sox hurt the Blue Jays' fading playoff hopes.

The Red Sox scored single runs in the first four innings off J.A. Happ (9-9). Dustin Pedroia's run-scoring grounder tied it in the first and Boston moved ahead on Will Middlebrooks' RBI single in the second.

Buchholz (7-8) allowed two runs and four hits in 6 1-3 innings to help Boston get its second straight win against Toronto. Edward Mujica got the final two outs for his fourth save.

MIAMI -- Evan Gattis hit a leadoff homer in the 10th inning to send the Braves to the win.

Gattis drove the first pitch from Bryan Morris (7-1) to the top of the wall in center. Gattis motored into third with a triple when the ball was originally ruled in play, but a replay review showed it hit the wall above a yellow line for his 22nd homer.

The 37-year-old Burnett (8-15) allowed one run and six hits. Jonathan Papelbon got three outs for his 35th save.

Tanner Roark (12-10) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings for Washington, striking out eight and walking one. He has lost his last three starts.

RAYS 3, ORIOLES 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Yunel Escobar scored on Nick Hundley's passed ball with two outs in ninth inning, sending the Rays to the win.

Escobar reached first on a throwing error by shortstop Ryan Flaherty, took second on Kevin Kiermaier's sacrifice and advanced to third on Curt Casali's flyout.

After Ben Zobrist was intentionally walked by Brad Brach (5-1), Andrew Miller relieved and threw a ball to Ryan Hanigan as Zobrist moved up on defensive indifference. Miller then threw an outside pitch that glanced off Hundley's glove and rolled to the backstop as Escobar sprinted home.

Playing its 2,733rd regular-season game, Tampa Bay won for the first time on a game-ending passed ball, according to STATS. Baltimore had not lost on a game-ending passed ball since at least 1974, STATS said.

Aroldis Chapman relieved and got the last four outs for his 30th save in 32 chances, escaping a threat in the ninth with the help of a replay.

Cueto (17-8) allowed one run and six hits as the Reds won for only the second time in eight games.

Dilson Herrera had an RBI single for New York, which had won three in a row.
