A few points here: 1. Age is irrelavent with knuckleballers. 2. Last year wasn't a fluke, as he's been great for several seasons, the mets just didn't score runs for him. 3. $26 million/2 years for a Cy Young pitcher is a drop in the bucket. Is Annibal Sanchez worth $77 million? PAY THE MAN!

Trade the guy. Don't keep making these mistakes and signing older players to multi year deals for big cash.

After pitching well for 2 or 3 seasons, Mr. Dickey now defines being "taken advantage of" as 3 years/$25 MILLION. So much for his perspective on life. Get a grip and not just with your knuckles. Thanks for all you've done but put greed aside. This just hertz!

I wanna see if this season was just a fluke or if he can at least win 18-20 games again next year knowing a payday depends on it???

I dont know many 38 yr old pitchers getting better than they already are. If I was the mets i would trade him now and get what you can for him.

The dude is 38 and had one great Sean.plus his bread and butter is a knuckle ball, which is great when it works, can be and a disaster when it doesn't. I don't blame the dude for wanting to cash in, but I certainly would not want my team to sign him for the extension mentioned in the article. Even that is way too much.

Trade him to someone who can win this season and retool. Why should the Mets(who aren't going anywhere in the next 2seasons) sign a 38 year old knuckle ballet? Trade him and retool for the future.

Sorry R.a. 1 magical season and being 38 years old doesn't justify being paid 28 mil over 2 years. Who blossoms in their late 30's and demands mega bucks?

The guy just won the cy young. He deserves some cash. He's only got so many yrs left to play. Ppl say he's greedy. BS! Like you all wouldnt try to get a nice payday to end ur career to be set for life. SMh

You are an idiot. He throws a knuckleball and doesn't have the ligament that all players tear in their elbow for tommy jon. Historically, knuckleball pitchers let well into their 40s even with that ligament which Dickey lacks. I can see him pitching effectively for at least another 5 years.

No UCL, so he is never really that sore, he can fill in a spot in the rotation if someone else goes down. I mean thats pretty cool that he could pitch twice a week. And who cares how old he is, as long as he stays in good shape he isn't putting as much stress on his body as the other guys who throw 95... I say give him 25 over 2 years, or maybe like 22 with lots of bonuses and incentives

He is greedy, but nobody is buying that $@%! he's selling. Who in their right mind would give him $28 mil for 2 years at 38?

Boo hoo. Your lucky your where your at cuz the mets took a chance on you to begin with. Your 38. Funny to watch a person who had nothing want to get all pissy over money. Rake your ball and go home. This isn't show-friends it's show business.

He averaged less than a 3.00 ERA the last 3seasons AKA much better than greinke who got $25M a year
