Report: Blazers expect renewed fight from Frazier

The Portland Trail Blazers have only six players returning to their roster this season. The roster will be one of the youngest and least experienced in the NBA, led by All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. Tim Frazier will enter camp battling Phil Pressey to earn the backup minutes behind Lillard.

Frazier won Rookie of the Year and MVP in the D-League, averaging 16.7 points and 9.5 assists last season. Frazier’s speed in transition is his main strength, along with his willingness to pass the ball.

Mike Richman from The Oregonian breaks down Frazier’s strengths, weaknesses and the competition between him and Pressey for the backup point guard role:

"Frazier is a natural point guard, something the Blazers lack behind Lillard on the roster. His unique blend of Roadrunner speed and pass-first instincts could make him a valuable bench contributor. But his main limitation in the NBA will be shooting. ... Last season, Phil Pressey beat out Frazier for a roster spot with the Boston Celtics during training camp and heading into October it looks like the two point guards are set to compete for one of the last roster spots with the Blazers."
