Report: Otto Porter could be a 'Stretch-4' option

More and more NBA teams are planning to play "Small Ball" as a way to speed up the game and create mismatches as bigger/slower defenders try to stop smaller/quicker players on offense. This philosophy could be used in Washington with Otto Porter getting some run at power forward. From Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post:

"Jared Dudley was brought in to compete for the role. Drew Gooden III proved he is effective as a stretch-four in the playoffs. Kris Humphries, a 2-for-26 career three-point shooter over 11 seasons, has been working on his three-point shooting since the end of last season. Even Nene, a bruising traditional big man, has been honing his shot beyond the arc, according to John Wall. Now you can officially add Otto Porter Jr. to the growing list. In an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio Tuesday, Porter said he will 'definitely' be ready for the role. 'Because that’s who the NBA is transitioning, you know, to smaller lineups,' said Porter . 'So being able to stretch out as a four is going to be key, and that is something with our coaching we might end up doing. It’s definitely something I’ll be comfortable with.' There is nothing shocking about the idea. The NBA has moved away from traditional positions, or as Randy Wittman puts it, teams are embracing 'position-less basketball.'"

Porter is expected to be the starting small forward this coming season after a strong performance in the 2015 playoffs.
