Draft preview: Raptors have decisions to make at No. 20

After an extremely disappointing finish, getting swept in the first round, the Toronto Raptors look to start turning the page with the draft.

Raptors GM Masai Ujiri will have to weigh whether to shake his team up or try to add on to a young foundation that lost 4-0 to the Washington Wizards.

He still has a promising young core of Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas and Terrence Ross. But the team needs more toughness, rebounding, playmaking and defense.

Picking at No. 20 overall, the Raptors may not find exactly what they need. But this draft still could yield a talented player at No. 20 and ESPN’s Chad Ford has the Raptors snatching Notre Dame’s exciting point guard Jerian Grant in his latest mock draftInsider.

Grant makes some sense here despite Lowry and Greivis Vasquez on the roster. Grant is talented and he could provide insurance with Lou Williams set to become a free agent.

The 6-foot-4 Grant might be able to provide that instant offense that Williams brought. He is an explosive athlete who can play both guard positions and can defend. Grant, whose father is former NBA forward Harvey Grant, has shown the ability to lead at Notre Dame.

After seeing Lowry struggle in the playoffs against Washington’s John Wall, the Raptors could use another potential playmaker like Grant. Ford also has the Raptors passing on the likes of Georgia State shooter R.J. Hunter, Utah’s Delon Wright and Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell.
