Knicks Daily Links: Monday

Fisher seems to be feeling heat as not-so-young team flounders: Carmelo Anthony is entering the Patrick Ewing phase of his career; he’ll have to learn to live with knee pain and adjust his game accordingly. This is the deal when you’re 31 years old and have logged over 32,000 minutes. But at least Anthony has a good leg to stand on. The same cannot be said of Derek Fisher. -- New York Daily News

Porzingis fills the stat sheet again, but Knicks fall at home to Nuggets: A season that started with promise is slipping away. The reeling Knicks lost for the ninth time in their last 10 games on Sunday afternoon, flopping at home against the lottery-bound Nuggets, 101-96, after Carmelo Anthony missed an off balance 3-pointer that would’ve tied it down the stretch. -- New York Daily News

Fisher takes eye-opening blame as Knicks’ season slips away: This wasn’t a Super Bowl Sunday Garden party, but a Super Bowl Sunday funeral. Due to another horrible first quarter, the Knicks’ season continued to die as the Nuggets built a 19-point lead in the first half and held on for a 101-96 victory. -- New York Post

The Porzingis lesson Knicks learned from Danilo Gallinari: Danilo Gallinari once was to the Knicks what Kristaps Porzingis is today, the future of the franchise. Soon after the native of Italy was drafted sixth overall by the Knicks in 2008, the 19-year-old had a Reebok contract and a shoe called “The Rooster.” He was viewed as a future All-Star or, at the very least, an important building block toward a championship. -- New York Post

‘Everything is off’: Carmelo coming to grips with knee reality: All-Star Weekend in Toronto won’t be all fun, games and parties for Carmelo Anthony. After returning from his left knee soreness in Sunday’s loss to his former team, the Nuggets, Anthony confirmed he will not skip the festivities, but he’ll rehab every day in Canada to get as right as possible for the season’s unofficial second half. -- New York Post

Derek Fisher blasts Rajon Rondo off Knicks’ PG wish list: It looks like Kings impending free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo won’t be a Knick next season. The normally mild-mannered Knicks coach Derek Fisher shot back at Rondo, who made comments in Brooklyn on Friday that the triangle offense isn’t for him when discussing his free agency. -- New York Post

Derek Fisher not concerned that Rajon Rondo dislikes triangle: Derek Fisher removed any chance that Rajon Rondo will consider the Knicks when he becomes a free agent in July. The Knicks need to upgrade the point guard position, so it doesn’t make sense for their coach to take any digs at point guards, least of all one of the elite ones. But Fisher didn’t see it that way. -- Newsday

Sore Carmelo Anthony feels his shot is off-target: Carmelo Anthony missed the biggest shot of the Knicks’ 101-96 loss to the Nuggets on Sunday at the Garden when he was too strong on a potential game-tying three-pointer with 11.3 seconds left. -- Newsday

Knicks lose to Nuggets, extend skid to five games: Carmelo Anthony was back but it didn’t help the sliding Knicks from stopping their skid. The Knicks’ ninth loss in 10 games followed a familiar script. They got off to a bad start, had to erase a double-digit deficit and their offense sputtered during crunch time. -- Newsday

Carmelo Anthony Plays, but It’s Not Clear the Knicks Are Ready To: The Knicks trailed by 3 and could hold the ball for the last shot. Naturally, they placed it in the hands of Carmelo Anthony as the final seconds wound down. -- The New York Times
