MLB Rumor Central: Dodgers trade for Rich Hill, Josh Reddick

UPDATE: The A's sent outfielder Josh Reddick and left-handed pitcher Rich Hill to the Dodgers in return for pitching prospects Grant Holmes, Frankie Montas and Jharel Cotton.

The Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Dodgers have discussed a trade involving A's outfielder Josh Reddick and starting pitcher Rich Hill, according to ESPN's Buster Olney .

The teams have talked about the Dodgers acquiring both players in one deal, in addition to separate trades for each, writes Olney.

Hill remains one of the more talented starters available on the trade market, as the 36-year-old lefty is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA this season. However, his nagging injuries are a red flag, as he is currently on the shelf with a blister on his throwing hand. Hill threw only five pitches in his last start on July 17 and was scratched from Sunday's start against the Cleveland Indians. Having Hill's health an issue approaching the deadline will further complicate a deal.

Reddick, 29, remains one of the more attractive bats on the trade market, and the A's are engaging with a handful of teams about the outfielder. Reddick is hitting .300 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs this season. The left-handed hitter is terrific against right-handed pitching, as all seven of his home runs have come against right-handers.
