MLB Rumor Central: Cubs interested in A's Josh Reddick

The Chicago Cubs made one move to shore up the bullpen on Wednesday and remain in a deal-making mood as they've shown interest in A's outfielder Josh Reddick, per MLB.com's Jon Morosi.

Rumor Central

Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein has a connection with Reddick having drafted him in 2006 when he was GM of the Boston Red Sox. Reddick, who missed nearly six weeks with a fractured left thumb earlier in the season, is batting .301 with six home runs, 23 RBIs and a .380 OBP. Reddick would provide the Cubs with some pop from the left side, as he's batting .348 with a .966 OPS against right-handers. All six of his home runs have come against right-handed pitching.

Reddick is owed nearly $3 million on his deal and is a free agent at the end of the season. Last month, the A's were reportedly looking to extend Reddick before the non-waiver trade deadline and would put him on the trade block if a deal could not be reached.
