MLB Rumor Central: Marlins interested in Rich Hill?

Add the Miami Marlins to the list of teams interested in Rich Hill, but acquiring the Oakland Athletics' left-hander will be no easy task.

Rumor Central

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports the Marlins, who have previously been linked to the Rays’ Jake Odorizzi and and the Padres’ Drew Pomeranz, could “potentially” make a run at Hill.

Hill, who has looked fine in two starts since coming off the disabled list, is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA over 13 starts and is signed to a modest one-year, $6 million deal.

The Marlins, however, are thin on attractive trade chips, and that could be the difference on what should be a hot market for Hill. Since the A’s will not be asking for much financial relief, Billy Beane and his staff will instead be asking for upper-tier prospects.

If the Marlins are unable to make a deal, Jackson says their best internal option may be Jarred Cosart, who was demoted to the minors in April and spent a month on the minor league disabled list with an oblique injury.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com says Hill might be amenable to signing a contract extension with any team that acquires him.
