Will Josh Reddick remain with the Oakland Athletics after all?

Rumor Central

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, who cites sources, the A's intend to revisit extension talks with Reddick ahead of the Aug. 1 non-waiver trade deadline. Rosenthal also added that trading the 29-year-old becomes more likely if no agreement is reached between the team and the player, though Oakland would be comfortable keeping him and providing a qualifying offer.

As of now, Reddick and the Athletics still "appear to be far apart" in negotiations as there are zero indications that any progress has been made, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Reddick, who has missed five weeks with a fractured left thumb, had recorded only one hit in 17 at-bats over four games while rehabbing at Triple-A Nashville before a 2-for-4 performance Sunday. John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News reports that it's "up in the air" as to whether he'll be activated off the disabled list Monday.

A scout opined to Slusser that the San Francisco Giants would be a perfect match for the outfielder: "It would make a lot of sense."
