MLB Rumor Central: Shelby Miller to the minors?

The Arizona Diamondbacks are mulling the idea of sending struggling right-hander Shelby Miller to the minor leagues.

“We want to get him on track the best way we can. We will figure it out and do what’s needed,” general manager Dave Stewart told D-backs beat writer Jack Magruder.

Miller’s 2016 season reached another low against the Pirates Tuesday when he allowed six runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings, raising his ERA to a bloated 7.09 along with a 1.86 WHIP.

The Diamondbacks believed they were getting an upper-tier starter when they traded three players, including highly-rated prospect Dansby Swanson to the Braves for Miller. But Miller has just one quality start through the first two months of the season, and the Diamondbacks are open to all options.

Josh Collmenter is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list this weekend, giving Arizona an experienced starter if Miller is demoted.
