Derrick Rose (left ankle) hopeful to play vs. Portland

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is hopeful that he will be able to play Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers after missing the last two games because of a sprained left ankle.

"I feel good," Rose said after Sunday's practice. "My body was a little fatigued from just running around or just sitting down for a little time. Being able to run around today, and I had a great workout [Saturday] and I had another workout today after we got done practicing so I'm heading in the right direction ... that's what I'm aiming for, Tuesday, for sure.

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg seemed encouraged by what Rose was able to do during Sunday's practice.

"Today was a step in the right direction for sure," Hoiberg said. "He got a good workout in [Saturday]. Still had a little soreness, but he wanted to try and push through, get through a full workout, and it was good to see him back out there again.’’

Like Rose, Hoiberg is hopeful that Tuesday will be the day Rose returns to the floor.

“He looked good," Hoiberg said. "He looked good. The good thing is he’s been able to shoot even when he’s had the ankle injury. Yeah, so hopefully we’ll have him out there again on Tuesday."

Rose initially sprained his ankle during Monday's win over the Indiana Pacers. If Rose plays Tuesday, it would mark his first game playing in Portland since tearing the medial meniscus in his right knee on Nov. 22, 2013.
