Raptors 105, Nets 89; Lowry destroys D-Will

Drake wanted to have "Drake Night" against the Brooklyn Nets so the Toronto Raptors could exact some payback following last season’s playoff ouster.

“If there’s anybody that I want to beat, it’s the Nets,” Drake told reporters before the game.

And that’s just what the Raptors did Wednesday night, turning it on in the second half and claiming a 105-89 rout over the Nets at Air Canada Centre. Brooklyn led by as many as 11 points, then ended up trailing by as many as 18.

The Nets trail the Raptors (20-6) by nine games in the Atlantic Division standings.

At one point, Joe Johnson missed three straight free throws as the crowd chanted “Brooklyn sucks!”

The Nets (10-14) dropped to 1-12 against .500 or better teams.

Kevin Garnett (rest), Brook Lopez (back) and Sergey Karasev (oblique) did not play for Brooklyn. DeMar DeRozan (groin) did not play for Toronto.

Player of the game: Kyle Lowry (20 points, 12 assists) destroyed Deron Williams (5-for-15 shooting, five turnovers) in their head-to-head battle.

Stat of the game: The Nets had three turnovers in the first half. They had 11 turnovers in the second half. They went 10-for-22 from the free-throw line. They are 0-8 when allowing 100-plus points.

Play of the game: D-Will’s no-look pass to Mason Plumlee (career-high 23 points, eight rebounds, two blocks) for a transition slam dunk in the first quarter.

Up next: The Nets head to Cleveland on Friday night to face LeBron James and the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.
