Marlins place Boone, Ross on DL, recall Linden

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins placed infielder Aaron Boone on
the 15-day disabled list Wednesday because of a sprained left knee.

The 34-year-old Boone was taken out of Sunday's game after
injuring his knee during a cutoff play in the fourth inning.

In his first year with the Marlins, Boone is batting .286 with
five home runs and 28 RBIs in 69 games. Primarily a third baseman,
Boone started 46 games at first base in place of Mike Jacobs, who
returned to the Marlins lineup this past weekend after a long stint
on the DL.

Outfielder Todd Linden was brought up from Triple-A Albuquerque,
and outfielder Cody Ross was transferred to the 60-day DL with a
left hamstring strain.

Linden hit .143 in 13 games for the Marlins earlier this season.
