Teixeira, Schmidt, weekend notes

Apparently I'm on an island with this one, but there were plenty of things that disappointed me more this weekend than "The Sopranos" ending. I don't understand why the only ending you wanted to see was the main character dying. What's wrong with you people? I was far more saddened -- angry, beleaguered, pick the word -- in Jason Schmidt, Claudio Vargas and Ted Lilly, who conspired to take me down in a key head-to-head league.

The first guy got lit up, in direct proportion to his dropping velocity, disrupting my ERA and WHIP in a number of leagues, including that H2H one. I could've overcome that nasty outing in the H2H league, but the second guy (Vargas) was somehow in my opponent's lineup, earning a surprise save Sunday, breaking a tie in that category. And the third guy (Lilly), all he had to do was strike out four hitters for me to still win the week in that league, earning the necessary strikeouts. He fans the first two and then … he got his butt tossed for throwing at Edgar Renteria. Hey, in some leagues you're just destined to lose.
