Cavs couldn't stop clock

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Nobody said much about it afterward, but the Cavs were hurt at the end of Game 1 by not having any timeouts left.

Chauncey Billups went to the line with 2.4 seconds left with a chance to ice the game, but after making the first of two free throws, he missed the second, leaving the Pistons ahead by three. Anderson Varejao grabbed the rebound and was forced to throw up an 80-foot shot that never had a chance.

I asked Cavs assistant coach Hank Egan about it afterward, and he said that although the Cavs didn't have any extra timeouts, it wasn't because they had needlessly wasted one.
