Ducks acquire D Jackman from Panthers

ANAHEIM, California -- The Anaheim Ducks took a step
toward replacing Chris Pronger on Wednesday, acquiring
defenseman Ric Jackman from the Florida Panthers for a 2007
conditional pick.

Pronger, who suffered a broken left foot in Sunday's 4-3 loss at
Minnesota, is expected to undergo surgery this week and is out
indefinitely.

The fifth overall pick by Dallas in 1996, Jackman appeared in
only seven games with Florida this season, recording one goal
and 10 penalty minutes. Last campaign, the 28-year-old set a
career high with 23 assists and matched his personal best with
30 points in 64 contests with the Pittsburgh Penguins and
Panthers.

In 207 career games with the Stars, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple
Leafs, Penguins and Panthers, Jackman has collected 18 goals,
48 assists and 156 penalty minutes.
