ESPN analyst Curry wins Amos Alonzo Stagg Award

WACO, Texas -- Bill Curry, the former football coach at
Georgia Tech, Alabama and Kentucky, is the 2007 winner of the Amos
Alonzo Stagg Award given out by the American Football Coaches
Association.

"I'm overwhelmed by this," Curry said in a statement. "It's
such an incredible honor that I can't express how I feel. This is
the highest honor I've ever been accorded."

Curry will receive the award, given to those "whose services
have been outstanding in the advancement of the best interests of
football," at a coaches convention in San Antonio in January.

Curry coached at Georgia Tech from 1980-86, at Alabama from
1987-89 and at Kentucky from 1990-96. He was the Atlantic Coast
Conference Coach of the Year in 1985 and the Southeastern
Conference Coach of the Year in 1987 and 1989.

Since 1997, Curry has worked as a college football analyst for
ESPN.
