ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- A veteran of only 12 major league
appearances, Cha Seung Baek already has found a favorite team to
pitch against.

Baek looks to prolong a 15-inning scoreless streak against the
Texas Rangers on Wednesday as the Seattle Mariners attempt to
break a four-series losing streak at Ameriquest Field.

The 26-year-old Baek (3-1, 3.90 ERA) allowed three hits in eight
innings of a 9-0 win at Texas on September 26, 2004. The
righthander finally made it back to the majors last month and
strung together three straight wins, capped with seven scoreless
innings of a 7-2 win against the Rangers on September 8.

The four-game winning streak dating to 2004 came to an end last
Wednesday, when Baek was pounded for six runs and seven hits in
3 1/3 innings of a 10-0 loss to Toronto. In his only previous
road start this year, Baek allowed one run and six hits in 6 2/3
frames of a 4-3 win at Tampa Bay on September 2.

Seattle had dropped 13 of its previous 15 games here dating to
last year before rallying for a 9-7 triumph on Tuesday. An
error by Rangers closer Akinori Otsuka opened the door for the
Mariners to score the tying runs in the ninth, and rookie Adam
Jones delivered the go-ahead two-run single for Seattle in the
10th.

Willie Bloomquist collected five hits of 18 hits for the
Mariners, who next faces 24-year-old righthander Robinson Tejeda
(4-3, 4.58). After going 0-2 with a 14.46 ERA in his first
three starts here, Tejeda gave up just five hits in seven
scoreless innings of an eventual 2-1 loss to Anaheim on Friday.

Tejeda has gone 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in his last six starts
overall. That span includes his first career meeting with
Seattle, a start in which he allowed two runs - one earned - and
four hits in 6 2/3 innings of an eventual 3-2 setback on
September 9.
