Confined to doghouse: Raiders' Porter still inactive

Jerry Porter, who's inactive for the Oakland Raiders' game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, will remain with the team but stay on the sidelines and out of uniform until further notice, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday.

According to Mortensen, a team source said coach Art Shell has decided
Porter won't play until his attitude improves, or until an injury to another player forces him to insert Porter into the lineup.

Porter, whose differences with Shell extend back to the team's offseason workouts, was reported to have been seen laughing and pumping his fist on the sidelines when Raiders teammate Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time in teh Raiders' 27-0 loss to San Diego on Monday Night Football.

But Porter told ESPN that he wasn't paying attention to the game at the time, and that his reaction was to fans who were talking to him on the sidelines, not to Brooks being sacked.

Porter's role on the team has greatly diminished after he
clashed with Shell in the offseason over his
offseason workout plans. Porter demanded a trade at the start of
training camp, but the Raiders have declined to grant his wish.

Mortensen reported that the Raiders have given Porter and his agent permission to seek a trade, but that there has been no interest as of yet.
