CINCINNATI -- The Reds optioned outfielder Chris Denorfia to
Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, opening a roster spot for
outfielder Todd Hollandsworth.
The Reds obtained Hollandsworth from the Cleveland Indians a day
earlier for a player to be named. Hollandsworth joined the Reds
before Thursday's game.
Denorfia was called up on July 13 after right fielder Austin
Kearns went to Washington as part of an eight-player deal. Denorfia
was in a 1-for-14 slump that dropped his season average with the
Reds to .222.
