GRAND BLANC, Mich. -- The red shirt was familiar, and so was
the result.

Tiger Woods won his 50th PGA Tour title Sunday, shooting his
fourth-straight 6-under 66 for a three-stroke victory over Jim
Furyk in the Buick Open.

Woods reached a season-low 24 under and made a career-high 28
birdies in the tournament to hold off Furyk -- who closed with a 64
-- for his fourth win of the year.

Woods became the seventh member of the PGA Tour's 50-win club
and improved to 21-for-21 when leading by more than one stroke
after three rounds. The 30-year-old Woods beat Jack Nicklaus'
record pace to the milestone, which Nicklaus reached in 1973 at 33.

Woods has made 196 PGA Tour starts as a pro and 210 overall.
Nicklaus won his 50th title in his 280th start overall -- and 262nd
as a professional. This year, Woods' four victories have come in 11
events.

Woods, coming off his emotional victory in the British Open,
will get a chance to win his 12th major in two weeks at the PGA
Championship in suburban Chicago, where the superstar hopes to
close in on the record he covets: Nicklaus' 18 major championships.

Joe Durant (67) finished four shots back, alone in third. Vaughn
Taylor (68) and Scott Verplank (69) tied for fourth at 19 under
with Sean O'Hair (67) to improve their chances of earning spots on
the U.S. Ryder Cup team.<
^Women's British Open=

LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England -- Sherri Steinhauer shot an
even-par 72 to win the Women's British Open for the third time, and
the first since it became a major.

The 43-year-old American finished at 7-under 281 at Royal Lytham
for her second major title. She also won in 1998 at Royal Lytham
and 1999 at Woburn.

Cristie Kerr (71) and Sophie Gustafson (72), the 2000 winner,
tied for second at 4 under, and Juli Inkster (73) and Lorena Ochoa
(74) finished at 3 under.

Michelle Wie shot her third straight 74 to finish at 6-over 294.

Annika Sorenstam, who won last month's U.S. Open for her 10th
major victory, shot a 44 on the back nine and finished with a 79
for a 7-over 295 total.<
^3M Championship=

BLAINE, Minn. -- David Edwards won the 3M Championship for
his first Champions Tour title, birdieing five holes in a six-hole
stretch en route to a 5-under 67 and a two-stroke victory over
Craig Stadler and Brad Bryant.

Edwards, making his 11th start on the 50-and-over tour, birdied
Nos. 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 to reach 11 under, added four pars and
closed with another birdie for a 12-under 204 total on the TPC Twin
Cities.

Stadler finished with a 68 for his third straight runner-up
finish in the event, while Bryant closed with a 67.

The 50-year-old Edwards, who earned a career-best $262,000, won
three times on the PGA Tour, the last time in 1993 in the MCI
Heritage.<
^Scandinavian Masters=

LODDEKOPINGE, Sweden -- Scotland's Marc Warren won the
Scandinavian Masters for his first European tour title, beating
Sweden's Robert Karlsson with a par on the second hole of a
playoff.

Karlsson, coming off a victory last week in the Deutsche Bank
Players' Championship in Germany, double-bogeyed the playoff hole
after twice hitting into the trees. Warren shot a 3-under 69 to
match Karlsson (71) at 10-under 278 on the Barseback course.<
^Cox Classic=

OMAHA, Neb. -- Johnson Wagner shot an 8-under 63 for a
four-stroke victory in the Cox Classic, moving him to the top of
the Nationwide Tour money list and within one win of immediate
promotion to the PGA Tour.

The former Virginia Tech player completed four rounds at
21-under 263 for his second win this season. He won the Louisiana
Open in March, but hadn't had a top-10 finish since May. He earned
$117,000 to push his season total to $321,669.

Craig Bowden (68) finished second.
