Patterson leaves game with tired arm

TORONTO -- Washington Nationals right-hander John Patterson
left his start against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning
Thursday night with a tired arm.

Patterson threw only two pitches in the fourth before a trainer
and manager Frank Robinson went to the mound. Bill Bray came on in
relief.

Patterson was making his second start since coming off the
disabled list. He spent 62 days on the DL with a right forearm
strain.

He allowed five runs and six hits in three innings against
Toronto.
