TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Looking to solidify their hold on a postseason spot, the Tampa Bay Lightning meet a vulnerable opponent.

The Lightning try to win their sixth straight home against the Washington Capitals when the teams meet Thursday for the seventh time this season.

The defending Stanley Cup champions are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a one-point lead on New Jersey and three ahead of Atlanta.

Staking Florida to a four-goal lead Monday, Tampa Bay scored four times in the third period, including two by Martin St. Louis, to force overtime before suffering a 6-5 loss to the Panthers.

The season can't end soon enough for Washington which has lost a season-high seven games straight games and is 14th in the East with a league-low seven road victories.

Danius Zubris scored his 16th goal and Brian Willsie added his 15th for the Capitals, which lost for the eighth sime on nine road games with Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to the Panthers.

Alexander Ovechkin has has 44 goals and 82 points, which gives him a six-point lead over Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby in the rookie scoring race. He remains is five goals shy of league leader Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers.
