Hennessey looks to snap a five-game losing streak

WASHINGTON -- Despite being 10 games under .500, a
division title is still a possibility for the San Francisco
Giants.

Brad Hennessey tries to end his five-game losing streak when the
Giants continue their series against the Washington Nationals
on Wednesday.

Hennessey (4-8, 5.25 ERA) has an 11.37 ERA in his last six
outings. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles
Dodgers last Thursday and surrendered five runs and six hits.

Moises Alou's three-run homer off Livan Hernandez in the ninth
inning lifted the Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Nationals on
Tuesday. The win moved San Francisco within five games of
first-place San Diego in the National League West.

In his first road game of the season, Barry Bonds belted his
third home run of the month and the 706th of his career, leaving
him eight shy of tying Babe Ruth for second place on the
all-time list.

The Nationals counter with John Patterson (9-5, 2.65), who is
6-1 with a 2.27 ERA at home this season. He tossed a complete
game victory last Friday at San Diego, yielding one run and
three hits.

Washington is five games behind Houston in the wild card race
with 11 to play.
