Eckstein out with strained groin

DETROIT -- Anaheim Angels shortstop David Eckstein left
Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Tigers in the first inning
with a strained right groin.

Eckstein singled to lead off the game and scored Anaheim's first
run. He injured his groin diving back to first base on a pickoff
attempt and is listed as day to day, the team said.

Shane Halter took Eckstein's place in the field.
