Lineman, Parcells have clashed in the past

IRVING, Texas -- Larry Allen may just have to learn to
coexist with Bill Parcells in Dallas.

Owner Jerry Jones said Saturday there is a good possibility
Allen will remain with the Cowboys, even after the eight-time Pro
Bowl missed voluntary offseason workouts and was given permission
to try finding a new team.

"Any interest that Larry might have or we might have had in
doing something different, it would have had to have been before we
were at this juncture in the draft," Jones said Saturday night.

Allen has clashed with Parcells over conditioning and other
issues. He missed parts of four games last year with injuries but
had another Pro Bowl season.

Parcells wouldn't talk about Allen, saying he wanted to limit
his remarks Saturday to the draft.

Among the three players the Cowboys picked Saturday were two
offensive lineman: tackle Jacob Rogers from Southern California and
guard Stephen Peterman from LSU.

Jones last month paid the final $4 million installment on the
$12 million signing bonus Allen received as part of a six-year, $37
million contract extension in 2002. Jones said he doesn't expect
any problems if Allen remains, and expects the lineman to attend
minicamps this summer before training camp.

"Larry understands his professional obligations," Jones said.
"There is no question in my mind that he will come in and
perform."
