Peep Show

American League

Cleveland Indians: It's his story and he's sticking to
it. Last year, Omar Vizquel published his memoirs and
chastised former teammates Albert Belle for corking
his war clubs and Jose Mesa for having a Game 7
freak-out in the 1997 World Series. Roger Brown of the
Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that Vizquel has not
backed off the allegations in the new and revised soft
cover version of "Omar!: My Life On and Off the
Field."

Detroit Tigers: For those who think there are no
second acts in life, the Tigers proudly present for
your consideration Steve Avery. Once part of the holy
triumvirate that included John Smoltz and Tom Glavine
in the Braves rotation, Avery suffered arm setbacks
the other two never did and saw his career almost end.
Now, for the first time in four years, he will pitch
in the major leagues as the Tigers recalled him from
Toledo yesterday where he developed a new arm angle
and posted a 1.93 ERA in 12 games. John Lowe of the
Detroit Free Press has the story.
