Champion Juventus shut out in loss

With Roberto Baggio directing the attack, Brescia stunned
Juventus 2-0 on Sunday, the reigning Italian League champion's first
loss of the season.

Juventus (7-1-5) dropped to fourth place, trailing AC Milan
(9-2-2), Lazio (8-1-4), and Internazionale (8-2-3).

Markus Schopp of Austria and Igli Tare of Albania scored for
13th-place Brescia (3-7-3) in the final 12 minutes. The hosts had
10 players in the final minutes because Brazilian midfielder
Matuzalem was ejected.

Baggio helped Juventus win the 1994-95 championship, but in a
recent book he called the team's coach, Marcello Lippi, his enemy.

The 35-year-old Baggio nearly scored Sunday with a beautiful
first-half volley. In the closing minutes, including seven of
injury time, he acted as a sort of coach on the field, giving
advice to teammates as Brescia tried to kill the clock.

In other games Sunday, it was Modena 1, Como 1; Parma 2, Reggina
0; Perugia 0, Piacenza 0; and Udinese 2, Empoli 1. The game between
Torino and Atalanta was postponed because Atalanta's team doctor
died right before kickoff.

On Saturday, AC Milan edged AS Roma 1-0, while Lazio wasted a
three-goal lead and tied Internazionale 3-3.

All of the weekend's games kicked off 15 minutes late as teams
protested two recent attacks by fans on players.
