Anthony Harrell disputes suspension, says he's transferring

Linebacker Anthony Harrell said Friday on Twitter that he is transferring from Georgia Tech to Florida for his final year of eligibility, disputing an earlier tweet from the team that he had been suspended.

Harrell's announcement came on the heels of the news that the Yellow Jackets had suspended him indefinitely, which he denied in his tweet.

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said in a text message to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Harrell's suspension was because of a violation of team rules.

The newspaper said Harrell had been taking part in spring activities over the summer and had been projected as a starter at middle linebacker.

Harrell is expected to enroll at Florida next week, a source told ESPN's Edward Aschoff, where he will compete at middle linebacker and weakside linebacker.

Harrell earned a degree in management in the spring, meaning he would eligible to play immediately for another team next season. He is a native of Tampa, Florida, and his father, James, played for the Gators.
