Justin Anderson to return for Cavs

Virginia's Justin Anderson will return and play limited minutes Thursday in the ACC quarterfinals against Florida State, exactly one week after having an emergency appendectomy.

Virginia coach Tony Bennett told ESPN's Allison Williams that Anderson won't start and will play in short stints.

Anderson has missed the past eight games for the Cavaliers -- who enter Thursday's game 28-2 overall. The 6-foot-6 junior suffered a broken finger on his shooting hand on Feb. 7 against Louisville, and Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett told ESPN that there was a chance he would have returned this past weekend against Louisville if he hadn't had the appendectomy.

Anderson averaged 13.4 points per game and was shooting 48 percent from 3-point range. He was a potential All-American prior to the injury. Anderson is also arguably the team's top perimeter defender and its best athlete.
