The New Orleans Saints have continued to show interest in building their own version of the Seattle Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" secondary.

According to ESPN NFL Insider John Clayton, the Saints are expected to host cornerback Brandon Browner on a free-agent visit at some point after he wraps up a visit with the Washington Redskins. Browner also visited Thursday with the New England Patriots.

Browner, 29, was a 2011 Pro Bowler with the Seahawks who stands out as one of the biggest and most physical corners in the league at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds. However, he's scheduled to miss the first four games of the 2014 season as part of a continuing suspension for a repeated violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Browner was originally sentenced to a one-year suspension after testing positive for marijuana use last season, which kept him sidelined during the Seahawks' Super Bowl run. However, the NFL agreed to a reduced sentence after he fought the ruling.

The Saints have already built an outstanding secondary with newly-acquired free agent safety Jairus Byrd, veteran cornerback Keenan Lewis and second-year safety Kenny Vaccaro. Browner could compete for the other starting cornerback job with younger players such as Corey White and Patrick Robinson if he lands in New Orleans.

Browner has 10 interceptions and 39 pass break-ups over the past three years as a full-time starter with the Seahawks. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2005. He then spent four years with the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders from 2007-10 before returning with his Pro Bowl season in Seattle.

The Seahawks aren't expected to re-sign Browner because of the emergence of young talent at their well-stocked cornerback position.
