U.S. women cut four from roster

Four players were cut from USA Basketball's women's roster heading into Monday's exhibition game against Canada (ESPN2, 7 p.m. ET) in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Guards Bria Hartley, Briann January and Danielle Robinson, and forward Chiney Ogwumike were cut over the weekend. A 13-player roster will take the court Monday, but seven more players who competed in the WNBA Finals are still expected to join the player pool this week.

The U.S. women will travel to France later this week to continue preparations for the 2014 FIBA World Championship, which begins Sept. 27 in Turkey.

USA Basketball has until Sept. 25 to finalize its roster.
