The likelihood of a potential super-fight between Anderson Silva and Jon Jones continues to look slim after the pair extended their friendship in the aftermath of UFC 148 on Sunday.

Silva cemented his place as the greatest fighter in UFC history with a second-round stoppage of Chael Sonnen. Victory means he stays unbeaten in his fantastic UFC career.

President Dana White was quizzed in the post-fight press conference about the possibilty of a Silva v Jones battle, bringing together the middleweight and light-heavyweight champions.

While Silva brushed off the suggestion, White preferred to keep the option alive, reminding journalists that the Brazilian once said he would never rematch Sonnen - which eventually happened.

However, Jones has previously labelled Silva his hero, the man he bases his own MMA game upon. The pair have trained together, and he tweeted a message full of respect after Silva's victory.

"Man my man *#AndersonSilva, went to work tonight, consistently amazing," Jones said. "I guess Anderson said he had no interest in fighting me at tonight's press conference, I feel the same way about him. Nothing but respect."

Silva later replied: "@JonnyBones good see you bro see you soon."
