Irv's submission : There's a sports bar in New Jersey that shows games for all the New York area teams. Yankees. Mets. Giants. Jets. Knicks. Nets. Devils. Rangers. Islanders. Dolphins.
Yes, Dolphins. At Miami Mike's Sports Zone in East Hanover, New Jersey, where Miami Mike gets about a hundred Miami Dolphin fans for every game. We watch the games on a 9x15 screen in high definition, where the Dolphins fight song is played after every touchdown, and Miami Mike high fives all of his fans. After a win, there are Dolphin shots, which is some kind of aqua colored drink, to celebrate the victory. And Jets fans are not too welcome. Even when the Dolphins went 1-15. The cheer goes J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK. Go away little green men.
But the comfort of Dolphin fans is not what makes Miami Mike's Sports Zone the best sports bar in America. It's because there are 50 plus high def TV's, and if a game in any sport is being televised, it will be shown there. There are the Browns Backers. The Penn State alumni. The Wisconsin faithful. The major fights. Miami Mike shows it all. If you want sports in a comfortable environment with good food, good drinks, and lots of fans, this is the place to be.
The Jets players hang out there during the week, since their Florham Park training facility is a few miles away. OJ Anderson from the Giants is a regular. Miami Mike has pictures with lots of sports celebrities sprinkled throughout the bar. He has a cabinet with about 100 jerseys from different teams. He sells T-shirts, shorts, sweats, all with the Miami Mike's Sports Zone logo. And the New York fans still show up.
But it is Miami Mike's Sports Zone. Because it is the home of the Dolphins. In New Jersey. And the Jets still suck.
About the Bar (from official web site) : Voted #1 Sports Bar in NJ by NJ Monthly Magazine... "Wherever big-time football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf, and boxing battles are being waged, you can be sure they are being watched with raucous passion on the 50 screens at Miami Mike's Sports Zone."
