76ers are taking the spot with how Jrue Holiday is playing with a return of Andrew Bynum plus some good perimeter shooters

They have a good chance only because the teams behind them are so inept. Case in point: Philly, Toronto, and Orlando all lost tonite. They're not keeping the 8th spot because of some ability to hold down the fort minus Rondo. They're keeping it because the other 7 Eastern Conference teams are in even worse shape.

The Celtics will make it to the playoffs. Unfortunately it will be without Rondo but with 3 combo guards in the line up and the leadership and strong will of Pierce and Garnett we should be fine.

In the Leastern Conference, anything is possible. You got New York, Brooklyn, Toronto, Philly, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Indiana, Milwaukee, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington and Orlando to compete with. Of the 14, none have a point guard to match Rondo, although Kidd would've dusted him in his prime. And other than the Heat, no one's a lock for the second round. Anyone considered a "playoff contender" has serious questions about depth and/or defense plaguing them, and many have failed to apply teamwork consistent enough to make a believer out of anybody. I'll admit I'd prefer the Celts' chances if Ray Allen were able to ease into Rondo's role, but they're as much a threat to eke out a move to the conference finals as anybody, barring an early matchup with the Heat. The Pacers are just as dysfunctional as Boston, and the Knicks just as old, so no clear favorite emerges unless you genuinely believe either of those teams is dangerous at home, which few knowledgeable observers would contend.

Who's gonna pass them? The sixers they're three games back and without Bynum, who's not coming back this season, they are super weak. The pistons are four games back but they're weak too the raptors have the best shot but I doubt it. The east is weak enough for the celtics to squeak into the 8 seed.

They still have pierce who always play well towards playoff time same as Garnett and they aren't in a strong conference. They won't get out of the first round but they should make it
