good to see the crowd do right by one of their players. you know that really grinds bobbys gears seeing him get such an ovation...sorry bobby, the only positive voice you're hearing is(of course) your own

yankeefansince85
The standing ovation means little after the fans curse you out of town. Yeah, youk tipped his cap, but he heard what you all were saying about him up until last night

Do you always listen to the voices in your head? I don't know any fans that were cursing Youk, only many, like myself who felt it was time for him to move on after being disrespected by Valenwhine. Typical Yankee projecting.

First, Fisk. Now, Youk. Thanks for letting the ChiSox have some awesome players over the years, Boston!

Amazing class by the Red Sox fans. I usually try to find mean things to say being an O's fan, but Boston does it right. NY can still suck an egg.

They applauded a former player and somehow they are classy?!? Same organization and fan base that let it "slip" that Tito Francona, someone who is all class, is a pill-popper and estranged from his wife? If they're classy, what is Baltimore like?

Big-mouth Bobby looked like he had ate some bad shrimp when Youk received a standing O. Class beats no class every time. You'd think Valentine would learn this.

Hollywood Valentine is OUT if he doesn't bring the SOX to the playoffs. I knew it from the beginning that 2012 was going to be a disaster once they signed this loud mouth bronzed $@%!$@%!

Kevin Youklis . . . the gift that keeps on giving . . . for the White Sox. 3 for 4, at least one superior defensive play, one instance of heads up base running, 300 plus batting average. Well, we did get Littlebridge . . . 2 hits and total bases in about a dozen games then DFA! Don't forget Stewart . . . mainstay of the Pawtucket staff with one win and an ERA moving rapidly toward 4 and beyond for its natural level, even in AAA. Our Sox have crapped the bed in some trades, but this makes inEptsten's work in lassoing Wily Mo Pena (finally gave up in North America and headed for Japan) for still-productive Brandon Arroyo. This trade has all the makings of a Sparky Lyle for Danny Cater masterpiece. The "significant compensation" of one-arm Carpenter for inEptstein is looking fairer all the time, too. Ben, maybe you need to take up CPA'ing instead and leave the trading to the adults.

why should theo get credit for it? The '04 team was built by Duquette and the biggest move made for the '07 team was trading for beckett and lowell and Theo had walked away from the job when that one happened.

"inEpstein" is pretty funny. Still, I can't help but wonder, if you think he's inept (and he has made some poor decisions, certainly), do you not give him any credit for winning 2 World Series for a franchise that was "cursed" up til that point?

I as a white sox fan, appreciated the red sox fans cheering on youk. I remember how we treated joe crede when he came back to chicago as a twin, standing ovation, highlight videos on the megatron. But i dont agree with this title, 'Buried'?. a 10 run lead is burying. ChiSox are not the frickin cubs.

StuckInNewEngland you're pretty dumb huh? First of all real fans appreciate the right players. We still love Manny and Moss. Damon signed with the Yankees. Obviously red sox fans aren't going to like him. By reading your comments on everyone's post it's clear you're an idiot. Or you're just from New York or New Jersey which is the same thing.

@ BLWhite But why are these guys always having to leave under such a cloud and with such acrimony? Why not just part ways as professionals? Why is it always a smear campaign first, then he said she said, then months or years down the road everyone's best buddies. I hope you can agree that's not classy. Not from the organizational standpoint, not from the media standpoint, and not from the players standpoint.

Don't group the front office, media and pink hats with the true Red Sox and baseball fans. The diehard fans recognize and support the true players. Manny, was supported for a long time but his antics and quitting on the team got him what he deserved on the way out. Today many fan thank him for the years he was a key contributor for the Red Sox, but his time definitely came to an end. Damon, as stated left for the Yankees, not going to get much love from the Red Sox base with that, but coming back to Fenway in other uniforms he's been appreciated. As for Youk, of course the fan base really supported him and appreciates him for what he had done...but it was time to move on and even Youk admitted it. We might not like how it was done and no way did the Red Sox get anything back in close to what the White Sox got...but they cleared the way for Middlebrooks who is the Red Sox future at 3B. Cleared a little in salary (still see if they can really get under the luxury cap like they need to). Last night was perfect in that Youk had a great game...but the Red Sox won the game.

What's a real fan? Fans are fans. From your pink hat brigade to your diehards. You are all the same. I see you didn't respond to the Tito post below. Accurate, perhaps? Besides, don't tell me that for weeks on end all of New England didn't say "Good Riddance" once Manny was traded. Same goes for Moss. You have the memory of a goldfish, which kind of makes you unintelligent.

Mostly because they are unintelligent. Seriously, once they hear it on the air that this guy or that guy is out of favor, they regurgitate these sentiments over and over again. Manny, Damon, Randy Moss, just to name a few since I've been here.

Gritty hardworking player who can deliver in the clutch. Would be great if we had more guys like that on our team. Good thing Bobby V picked up on that he was playing without heart this year and we got rid of him for nothing and are paying most of his salary to play for the other Sox. Good move.

He deserved the cheering and ovations, he put forth a lot of effort over the years and no matter how bad the send off was he still deserved to be respected like a lot of other traded Sox players. Ex: Nomar G.

Youk is a player that gives all he has. When Bobby V made his comment Youk was a little hurt but playing through it. What scares me is the flashback of Nomar. How many years and how many players have the Red Sox tried to find a final replacement for Nomar. Do they really have a full time replacement for Youk? Youk will be missed! Good luck Youk!
>
stevesinger2001
Youk was traded because Will Middlebrooks was ready to play and NEEDED to play every day. No other reason. Trading Nomar was a good move by Theo; Theo's problem was not signing the guy he got for Nomar, Orlando Cabrera. The guy was a perfect fit in Boston, hit well and played gold glove caliber shortstop. I will never understand why they let that guy walk.

>
Bearcatfan2006
Youk is a great player and a hard player to replace, but Will right now is the best thing for the team at 3rd base and Youk is the best thing for the White Sox. As much as I hated to see him go, it was probably for the best because of Bobby V.
