DEERFIELD, Ill. -- One of the worst things to come from Derrick Rose's knee injury, other than the injury itself, of course, is that we never got to see how good the Bulls could be. We saw them get a... Read full story
Best record in regular season = struggle to beat the Indiana Pacers in a 2011 playoff series and a loss to Phila in a 2012 playoff series (sans Rose, granted). I have to disagree. The Bulls don't have near "enough." 302 Days ago

The bulls better find a 6'4 or taller shooting with the ability to at least hold his own on defense and hit spot up 3's or they will be sucking if they lose korver. Yeah he stunk in both years during the playoffs but he did hit some big shots and people still respect his presence. 324 Days ago

This pick was weird, I get it, but Teagure really has potential to be a difference maker. Just not for the Bulls. Once Rose is healthy (no reason to believe he won't be), Teague won't play much or the Bulls will play an undersized backcourt.
On the plus side, by time the duo of Rose and Teague really round into form, Miami's Wade won't be able to guard a chair, so the 1-2 punch could really work. just hard to believe that if Teague reaches his potential he or, dare I say it, Rose will be traded.
I was really hoping Perry Jones would have slipped to the Bulls. 325 Days ago
mwyatt787
Perry jones to the bulls would have been money, would have made a nasty front court with jonesIII, gibson, asik, noah, boozer, thats kinda crowded though so maybe they would have traded him along with another player to a team with a crowded backcourt. 324 Days ago

Awful pick. Do the Bulls not understand that they need a SG. Teague can not play defense, can't shoot and to expect him to jump right in and run the offense as a rookie. Should have Drafted Barton and keep CJ to start for this yr. Only way to fix this is to sign someone like William Buford as an Un drafted FA play him with Teague and Start Butler at the SF til Deng gets back. It's basically a lost season anyways with another 1st round exit and Hopefully they make the right moves looking ahead to the 2014 season. 325 Days ago

its a draft and in a draft you always draft the best player available, and with rose out get this kid some playing time and maybe trade bait later 325 Days ago
Art22mac
It's a value pick.
They do need a shooting guard, but I guess Teague was high on their board. Teague was projected in the top 10 early on. If he starts off well he could be bait for a team looking for a future PG and willing to take Boozer.
I do agree...Bulls need a 2 guard and really a second star, but it's just not going to happen. 325 Days ago

There is no way a 19-year-old is going to get the bulk of the minutes -- or even as much as 10 minutes a game -- at the point when Rose is out. There's a reason 28 guys were picked ahead of him. 325 Days ago
mwyatt787
Not so fast, Taj gibson went inthe bottom of the draft and so did rajon rondo and other players, He is a fast PG with good transition game and can beat people off the dribble and put pressure on opposing front courts, with Rip, and Deng working the middle of the court we need a penetrator to give them space, I think he can at least do that for them. 324 Days ago

This is a win-win for us. He will do excellently while Rose is recovering and if Rose comes back to his pre-injury form, then we will get a rich package from trading him. On the other hand, if the doomsday scenario happens with Rose after his injury, at least we still have a good PG. 325 Days ago
mwyatt787
teams like fast PG that can push the ball, look at the moron from dallas or phoenix I believe that cant hit the side of a barn but is by far the fastest player inthe NBA with the ball in is hands. When Wall went No.1 it was because of his speed, same with Rose, Iverson. IF teague can penetrate and draw fouls or the attention of defenses and coaches around the league that would help the bulls plenty if hamilton can stay relatively healthy and deng can return to form. 324 Days ago

Best case scenario, Teague becomes a reliable PG in the mold of Mario Chalmers. That being said, Chalmers wouldn't bring much in a trade ... and neither would Teague. 325 Days ago
Art22mac
Disagree... Teague is much faster that Chalmers, more athletic. His ceiling is higher. Teague was a projected top 10 pick and probably would have been if he'd went back to school. 325 Days ago

It doesn't matter where he went in the draft. He was projected as a top 10 pick. And if develops well, we will get a rich package for him. Have you watched any basketball at all? 325 Days ago

Sports fans and writer can be so accidentally flaky it's not funny. After the acquisition of Rip Hamilton nearly a year ago, almost EVERYONE in Chicago felt like we had added the piece we needed in Keith Boga's stead to get the job of winning a championship done. But now many of those same fans and writers and radio show hosts make it seem like next year will be a bust unless we "make some moves".
Well, I disagree. And for all those who think we must "make some moves" in order to be competitive next and even have a remote chance to compete for the title, I would say you didn't REALLY believe what you were saying about the team last year.
If we think a healthy team wouldn't PROBABLY won the championship (especially in seeing how OKC is not nearly as good defensively as I initially thought) then why don't you think the SAME team can contend? The main issue of course being Rose being able to return to near form by playoff time. Without him I still think we're a playoff team, and I think Teague will help and get some tremendously valuable experience while awaiting the return of Rose.
I don't think we need to make drastic moves. I also don't think we need to let Korver go. That would be A HUUUGGGE mistake! I think we can compete next season. And with a healthy team, I STILL think we can accomplish what most of us thought we could accomplish last season before the injuries kicked in and made us look like a mirage of a championship team. I say it was no mirage. We had, and would still have a team that is capable of winning a championship, IF we don't tweak it too much. 325 Days ago

I agree that the Bulls are in the same position as last year. Not nearly close enough to compete with the Heat even at full health. It's time for Gar and Pax to take a hard look at our roster, grow some nuggs and make a move to improve our athleticism and get a legit 2nd scoring option. 315 Days ago

@ MichaelCaz exactly, How has Charlotte been with all of those high draft picks they have gotten for the last few years. Go Bulls

Agreed. I think the best point he makes is when he mentions how quickly Chicagoans have become bored with the leagues best record 2 years in a row... people were calling for CJ Watson's head last night on these message boards. I think he may be the best backup point guard in the NBA - a starter on 70 percent of the teams in the league...
Just amazing how quickly the fickle mob wavers...
Here's a quick Did You Know for all of you impatient Bulls fans. No sports team in the history of sports has won a championship every single year. These are facts. We could do what the pre-Epstein Cubs did and chase free agents, trade valuable players and draft picks for higher draft picks in $@%!$@ drafts (like this year's draft class), and $@%! away any chance of a future for a moderately better team for one season, or we can just all sit back, be patient, and have some faith. I, for one, believe in what Pax and Gar are working on here... I can't point to a whole lot of bad moves they've made... and if the ends justify the means, two best records in basketball in a row says, "We've got this." 325 Days ago

I'm hearing talk of the Bulls getting rid of Watson and this would be a huge mistake. He's practically out best scorer of the bench. I'm not expecting for Brewer or Kover to be here next year for salary reasons so you have to keep Watson. Watson was injured in the playoffs and we all have to remember that he's a bench player. The Bulls shouldn't completely gut the team. They should have traded Deng but they probably couldn't because no one want that contract. More proof that he's Overrated 325 Days ago
JustinEpt27
So not retaining a back-up point guard is a mistake ... But you advocate trading an All-Star wing player that has been the heart of the team's defense for the past two seasons. Interesting how your bias shines through here.
Deng's contract is pretty much par for course in terms of a second-tier player in the NBA. Teams that have reservations about him likely have them because he is slated to miss the first two months of the season next year --- NOT because they think he's "overrated" as you so bluntly put it.
The only place his contract had in ANY potential trade talks was with matching salary. That factored into the reported negotiations with Golden State since the Warriors would have had to send Andre Bierdens awful contract to Chicago and with Toronto since the Raptors are trying to clear cap space to lure Steve Nash back to Canada. In terms of the GS rumored proposal, it made no sense for the Bulls to jettison Deng's contract for a terrible contract - half the objective in trading Deng was to clear cap space and give the team flexibility.
Another potential landing spot for Deng was Sacramento, but EVERY report said the Kings would keep the pick if Thomas Robinson was available. Guess what - he was, and they drafted him. 325 Days ago

Watson NEEDS to go. We don't need a point guard who is scared of the pressure of taking free throws with the game on the line, makes a dumb play that costs us a playoff series and adamantly maintains it was the right play to make. Asta la vista Senior Watson! 325 Days ago

I would have loved to get Perry Jone III, but the Bulls took the best available and it filled an immediate need for next season. Win-Win. I like this pick, there's no player in the draft that would have been the missing piece so it made sense to take best available and we got good value. Teague has late lottery talent and we got him at 29. There's a reason why Will Barton and Doron Lamb went in the low 30's/high 40's.
Also, does anyone else think the Bulls are stuck in a perpetual state of mediocrity? With or without Rose, I think we are a playoff team, but don't have enough to beat the Heat and other teams are catching up. The Bulls need to make a move or else we'll be stuck drafting low and wasting our core players' prime. We need to be aggresive instead of just being satisfied with a good regular season because we all know the regular season doesn't mean anything. 325 Days ago
mwyatt787
Yeah Iike teague alot more than JL3 more so because teague has more size and athleticism. I think watson and korver both need to be resign, a veteran backup like watson and a shooter like korver are much needed assetts, I know they also will match any offer for asik so watson or korver has to go, if anything Id say keep korver over watson for his shooting ability to stretch the floor while teague attacks the rim on occasion. 324 Days ago
