Not sure what's up with all the conspiracy theories on here. Leg injuries can be fatal to horses. The owners were looking at two options - a) run the Belmont and risk serious, potentially fatal injuries. b) retire now and made oodles in stud fees. H*ll, I'm a girl and the stud fee option sounds better to me...

sadly, I think there is likely a lot of juicing in the sport. Also, sadly, that means a lot of owners don't care if a horse is juiced. I've never been a big horse racing fan, but I won't even watch the Derby anymore, not after what happened to Eight Belles.

Their is little popularity left in the sport, and the little that is left is in witnessing a triple crown winner so there is noway the horse racing world wants this to happen anytime soon. So lets say the horse that's going to do it is injured. Just like Barbaro in 2006, lets pull back on the horse when he's making a push. The sport is a farce, and completely fixed.

bring an end to this brutal sport. boxing/mma/etc. ... at least people have the right mind to make the decision to fight or not. These horses are abused, drugged, and whipped almost on a daily basis. Many end up with injuries their half ton- plus bodies cannot tolerate.magnificent creatures such as barbaro should be grazing open fields today- but we love our money too much to allow that to happen.

this is what happens when the trainer uses steroids on his horses. This guy has a long list of steroid violations. In fact he is under investigation right now of juicing his horses a couple years ago.
