The Celtics were seconds away from possibly salvaging an atrocious Game 1 playoff performance against Atlanta that highlighted so many of their usual deficiencies -- rebounding, lack of depth, poor t...

How is it that Boston Fans don't realize what a Cancer Rondo is to victory. They are 9-5 without him and pierce who is a true star in the NBA gets featured every time to show how good he is. Rondo not playing is the BEST thing that happened to Boston in the playoffs. They simply play MUCH better when he isnt there. Save the PR spin. He did the celtics a favor by giving them a chance to win

Jackie, the fact that you've been covering the Cs for as long as you have and didn't realize that Rondo's intensity at the end of game 1 was going to propel his team to victory in game 2 is laughable. Rondo's aggression was exactly what was needed to get this Celtics team fired up for this series- without it the Cs could have snoozed their way to a first round exit.

Why is it that a beat writter or reporter think that just because they have cover a team that makes them an expert on the sport or situation. Yes you can have an opinion but opinions are like @##holes everyones got one. This article makes me sick why doesnt anyone just call it what it is Rondo got caught up in the heat of the moment and lost his cool. Most of us have never played professional sports so to try and judge what made Rondo that angry to bump the REF should reserve judgment. It was a questionable call and the Celtics margin for error was slim. He crossed a line and he did the time. case close

It's easy to understand why fans and media alike -- otherwise known as people who aren't paid to make long-term basketball decisions for an NBA franchise -- thought this Knicks team would make the jump to Eastern elite status and possibly challenge the Bulls and Heat for a trip to the NBA Finals. [+] Enlarge Scott Cunningham/NBAE/Getty Images) Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony get plenty of attention, but can each get enough touches? The Knicks had names. They had recognizable names, were coached by a recognizable name and were going to be better defensively because of the presence of Chandler. But how is it possible for the Knicks' front office to look at what it had in place before the season started and not see that it was ill fitting and doomed for this sort of ending? They had a coach who needed a point guard and didn't have a quality one http://www.creditimpress.com http://www.electsolutions.net

Every team gets hosed by the refs now and then. Most teams complain about it... The great teams overcome it. Get with it Rondo. If you had 13 assists rather than 11 the C's may have won.

After this year, I look forward to another 20+ years of Celtic irrelevance.. Just like after the 80's. Maybe the C's will luck out again, and have one of their former players trade them an HOF'er like Garnet for pennies to save the franchise for one year.

Maybe this last incident can be another chance for Rondo to mature or it can be another incident for him to play the victim. If he chooses to mature, he can also mature into becoming an outstanding basketball player that he's immaturity has prevented him from becoming to this piont. I'll be positive and hope for the best for him.

Rondo is the most under appreciated NBA star. But that bump was dumb and he knows it.

so here is my question...you know how players sometimes put their arms around referees to joke around or have casual banter (kobe does this all the time)...under the rules, isnt that illegal too? Somebody help me out on this

"Right on the money as usual J.M., " Really? This woman knows nothing about basketball. She has repeatedly said on "Around the Horn" that Coach K took over a program that was in shambles. If you call contending for and winning ACC titles, going to the NCAA tournament, ad getting to the finals "shambles," then she's right. But I don't think anyone but her would say something so ignorant.

Didn't Atlanta need all 48 minutes last week to beat Boston without Pierce or Garnett or Allen or Rondo? I seem to remember them barely holding off the likes of Stiemsma, Pavlovic, Bradley, Bass, Doolng and Marquis Daniels.

No Rondo to blow past Heinrich, no Allen, Josh Smith showed he can keep KG in check easily, Johnson and Pierce cancelled each other out last game. Looking good for ATL.

Josh Smith didn't keep KG in check, KG missed a lot of open shots early and if missing open shots is keeping someone in check then you would be right
