If you get too good then people get uncomfortable and hate. Fact of life. Success does not help you make friends (especially among your competitors). Just know that your tears and butt-hurt attitudes make #8 that much sweeter. I don't expect you to like it. I expect you to take it kicking and screaming. Have a nice day and hate on...

I take issue with one statement in this article, "I don't care that they were vacated." In general I don't think you can glorify those UMass and Memphis teams because as Calipari has pointed out he didn't make the rules, but he operates within them in regards to one and done players. His programs have also operated outside those rules. I don't think he joins the likes of the greats because taking three programs to the the final four is a lot easier when you provide yourself with unfair advantage. I hope his program has developed with in the NCAA rules at Kentucky because if this final four finds a similar fate to the previous two, Kentucky fans won't be so forgiving.

Interesting point. It is kind of like the USC football championship. People argue that is was the best team despite having Bush on the team. Do you account for the various infractions when determining if a team or coach is great??

For those of you that keep bringing up coach K, I have two names for you Myron Piggie, and Corey Maggette. Proven cheates that the NCAA doesn't have the balls to do anything about. Also in 2008 KU and self used an ineligible player all year long (Darell Arthur). Nothing was done to them because they won the title. Had memphis won they would not have gotten in any trouble, but KU would have vacated their FF and season. In case you havent noticed the NCAA does not do much of anything to Championship coaches, Ask Beheim, Calhoun, K, Williams, Self

"Think about what he did at Massachusetts and Memphis. I don't care about those results being vacated" DickieV has been waving the K flag all season. Funny how the NCAA does care about what he did at UMass and Memphis. Cal has converted UK from a college to a D-league program for the NBA where one and dones just rotate in and out the door every year. Forget about student athletes or education. It is all about the money baby! IRS should start taxing all of these ahtletic departments like the businesses they really are - not non profits. Cal gets $350K for winning title in addition to his $3 million per year salary. More money than most people see in a lifetime. DickieV is OK with all that. Its not just UK that is corrupt, it is the whole NCAA business model.

My question is what is UK going to do now that all of their team is going pro along with their coach? No other coach I know of will cheat like Cal and it took a cheater for UK to become relevant after ten years.

For God's sake, if you have any evidence that Coach Cal cheated, call the NCAA right away at 317-917-6222! Don't wait! The NCAA has investigated him deeply twice and hasn't found him guilty of anything. If you have evidence to the contrary, give it to them! Otherwise admit that you don't know what you're talking about, and shut up...

Yeah Rose just suddenly got smart after not qualiiying three times in Chicago. He takes the test in Detroit after signing with Memphis and becomes eligible. Cal had nothing to do with that - OJ is innocent too!

Hey awesomespoon, If the one UK player with the worst GPA on the team transferred to play at your school, it would raise both team's average GPA. (Don't worry, I don't expect you to understand it.)

I didn't think many of UK's players were in school long enough to even have a GPA. That is why they are known as the D-league Cats now.

yea, he took a team of individual stars and made them operate efficiently as a team. he took a ky team last season and beat a more talented unc and ohio state team by imposing his will. getting stars to play to their strengths and playing real team ball is the key to success. it is not as simplistic as you think. he doesn't just roll out the balls and have them just play. that's what made this ku team so great this season. they were also a great TEAM. they advanced further than the team last year with morningstar and the morris twins. i think you would be wise to consider the opinions of the experts on this topic!!!

Its all around you. He's the only coach to win 500 games twice. 2 final fours took away to date. He said it himself he wasn't going to coach at UK for too long due to the stress. Take pride in your bought NCAA title. Only took a half of UNC's team to get injured and 7 McD's AA's to win it. Really a great coaching job on cal's part

why would calipari recruit and coach losers? if he wanted that, he would be coaching chaminade. he wants to win, so he went to a school that would get him winners. NOBODY in the country can out-recruit him. "i'll get you in the first round if you give me one yera of absolute dedication." those guys all played team ball despite the fact that they could each have averaged 22 pts for the season.

Yea most schools have standards. You know have a GPA that's higher than 2 fingers. That's why Cal gets good players. Many don't want to do school work. Look on the bright side, it took Cal 7 high school AA;s on 1 team to finally win a NCAA tourney that has a possibly of being took down before it even goes up.

Yea sure if you say so, is that why he recruited a pro last year? His players have had GPA's below 2.0 and I'm sure some talking went down and some special classes happened to make the GPA's better. FYI a middle school education is better than a UK degree.
>
copterchief.paul
Cal's Cats have 3.0 and 2.75 GPA's last two semesters respectively. Looks better than your GED. Cal has never been accused of cheating. In fact, the NCAA twice told him that Derrick Rose was eligible. There is not a coach on the planet that would not have played him, including Bob Knight. Those teams were forced to vacate because of greedy parents and agents.
>
awesomespoon
lulz is that why Rose needed help? People at UK under him have finished with GPA's below 2.0? He's only coached at schools with low standards because schools with standards wouldn't let the players he wants in.

I am sure a smart guy like Calipari didn't know what was going on. The fact is that the rules are very clear that these kids are not supposed to be getting paid or receiving extra benefits. Calipari has ignored these rules in the past and will certainly continue to ignore them in the future because he will do anything to get the best kids no matter the cost.

Coach Knight is that you? You don't have to hide behind a screen name. We know it's you by the inaccuracy of your comments. Rose was deemed ineligible for cheating on his SAT, nothing to do with money. The NCAA had deemed Rose eligible. Now take your Aricept and go to bed.

do you know what makes you a great coach? taking crap players and over acheiving. Not riding widely recognised supremely talented players to a title.
>
copterchief.paul
So bearpatrol, what was this team of crap players that won a National Championship? It's NEVER happened. But I'll take the bait. I argue that getting 18 year old phenoms to check their ego at the door, share the ball, execute the coach's plan, stay out of trouble, and earn a team avg. 3.0 GPA is more difficult than coaching a group of seniors and one standout to a National Championship.

Best recruiter, best motivator, best(dare i say it) coach in D1. He gets the best because kids know he coaches for the kids and the school first and hisself second. If Jones Lamb Davis MKG and Teague all leave early we will reload and go for it again. Thats the new standard in the Big Blue were back and were here to stay.

maggot, you are totally deluded. Jones is gone and so is MKG. The agents will tell them that it makes no sense to stay. Teague is also gone. No NBA strike this year means a full year of $$$$.

lets be honest Jones is not going anywhere he wants to be a lottery pick and he is not and MKG already said he is coming back and i think lamb might come back and obviously Teague kinda has to come back he would never play in the NBA not good enough
