Rain postpones play at DFS Classic

BIRMINGHAM, England -- Rain postponed play at the DFS Classic on Thursday, with more wet weather expected Friday.

Maria Sharapova, the 2004 Wimbledon champion, had been scheduled to play Austrian teenager Tamira Paszek on Thursday in the third round.

The 16-year-old Paszek instead spent the day restlessly moving around the clubhouse.

"It's difficult but I haven't got frustrated," Paszek said. "This is our job and we have to learn how to do it."

Sharapova is trying to win her third title at the Wimbledon warm-up tournament.

"She is my idol. I appreciate her so much," Paszek said. "What she has done is great, and the way she works. For me it is a dream."
